Asura Theme Review

General Design

I guess that everyone when first looks at Asura will feel the same thing as me. It gives a straight impression by the colorful and creative appearance. Besides, Asura uses solely straight lines and shapes in the design, which makes it extremely sharp and solid.

Other Elements

Color and Font

Color is the most noticeable part of the design. The author uses a variety of colors like yellow, green, pink, and violet. Thereby, the appearance becomes really energetic and youthful. However, if you think these colors are too dazzling, you are not able to change them.

With Rubric and Russo One and Roboto, this sharp-designed theme becomes sharper. They are used with large, bold style, very intuitive and readable.

Front Page

The beautiful and innovative front page in the demo belongs to the pro version. In the free version, you don't have some special elements on this page and have to use Elementor to build some parts of this page.

The hero image is straightforward and well-organized with different elements on the separated tabs, looking quite prominent. However, to my mind, it's quite glitzy as there are many elements and colors in this area.

I really like the rounded icons here, which reduces the sharp design of this theme, but in the free version, they are not available.

If you don't use Elementor, your header image must be wide enough to stretch out the header area. Otherwise, there will be a blank space left on the right side or the image will be so small compared to the header area like I did.

The rest of the design is fine. Overall, I find that they are large, vivid, and reinforced by the vibrant colors.

Responsive

Asura has a good design on all devices or screens. It looks nice on laptop, PC, tablet or smartphone without any problem.

You don't need any extra step to make this multipurpose WordPress theme run smoothly right after you install it. But it's difficult to make it like the demo, especially the front page. It doesn't only requires you to set up a static home page in the Customizer, but also forces you to know how to use the Elementor page builder to design this page. If you don't know much about technology and design, it will challenge you a lot, I guess.

Moreover, this theme isn't compatible with One-click demo import, which makes it more difficult for your website to have a similar look like the demo.

Elementor page builder and WooCommerce are the two extraordinary features, making Asura a WordPress multipurpose theme. If you already know about technology, the Elementor page builder will not be a difficult task for you. But it can be difficult for a layman to use.

Elementor Page Builder gives users the strongest tool to customize your website. But if you are a non-professional user, you have to get used to using this plugin first. Otherwise, the Customizer just lets you edit the basic things.

Color and Font

You are allowed to customize many color sections, but the color of some areas that I point here is unchangeable.

The typography section allows you to edit the body texts only. But I suppose that it's enough to change the whole look with many standard family fonts and other customizable factors like size, spacing, and margin.

Others

Be careful with the header image because it will keep the default frame and style. You should crop it before uploading it to make the perfect fit. I still prefer no header image as it doesn't mess up with the title.

As for social media, you can easily enable/disable them on the fixed bar or the top bar. They give you many choices here, from the most seven default social sites to the two custom links. You can choose whatever you want for your custom icons with Fontawsom icon support. But remember to add the right shortcode and the URL name so that it can show up properly.

 

You just need about one day to get familiar with the daily use and all the standard post formats. Notably, it's very convenient when you can edit the layout for your post/page right in the Edit post.

The blockquote is prominent than the ordinary texts so that people can easily distinguish them.

This is how a Youtube video is shown.

I checked the SEO configuration by some tools. The result is that this WordPress theme hasn't SEO-friendly well yet. I hope that the author will improve it soon or suggest a plugin for SEO.

The speed is quite low. It disappoints me when I checked by PageSpeed Insights.

The documentation includes both instructions for pro and free versions so you should read it carefully.

This doc is written with step-by-step and detailed instructions for everyone to learn. There are even video tutorials to make it understandable.
