General design
This blog theme orients to minimalistic style, which can be seen in the laconic decoration. Moreover, it's elegant, classic with a clean and tidy layout.
Other elements
Because this is a minimal theme, the author uses primarily two colors basic colors: grey and white. They enhance the decent and cool look of BlogGem to the highest level.
Sogoe-ui is the only typeface in the demo. It's used with different styles flexibly and reasonably, helping this theme readable and "formal". Additionally, you are given a few other fonts and typography styles when customizing this theme. There are five styles with typefaces and primary colors. The fifth style gives you the most different look than others. Generally, I think that every style is all good to use.

The combination of the boxed style of the body and the full-width style of the header and footer gives this theme both expansive and traditional, classic appearance.
The soft corner
The container-styled hero image is impressed not only by its magnificence but also by the friendly soft corner. Thus, I feel both amazed and comfortable when first viewing this WordPress blog theme.
On the archive page, the featured images are also displayed with large original size in a list. That's the only default style for this page. And because each post or widget on the sidebar is put on individual boxes, they become so neat, prominent and distinguishable.
The inner page or single post page is embellished by the stunning featured image like the homepage. The breadcrumb, small cute icon, and title lie directly on it as an effective way to convey the name and save the space.
