General design
The author just uses the straight lines to built all the elements to make the appearance so simple and solid. Contributing to the simpleness of the design is the non-existence of any decorative tool. Additionally, the grid-based structure with 3 columns is pretty much useful to let the visitors rapidly scan and skim all the content. Overall, the clean and simple design gives more effective scope to express the elegant and harmonious qualities of this theme, leading to a highly readable form.
Other elements
Contrary to the white background of the content boxes, the author uses the light grey color for the background of the whole site to avoid further eyestrain. Moreover, these colors dramatically contribute to the decent look of this theme.
Color scheme
The typography contains only one family font - Lato - with different styles. This font is easy to read, straightforward, which concurred with the general spirit of the theme.
The static header image is the most stunning feature of Blogrid. However, you don't have the video, slider and title options in the free version, and the title you see in the demo is only available in the pro version.
Slider
The header is made to be extremely neat and simple. The menu and title are on the same lines, and distributed symmetrically, so it looks very well-organized and friendly.
When I installed this theme, I discovered a special aspect of the design: even if your posts' excerpts and featured images on the archived post page have different lengths and sizes, all of them are still put in the similar-size frames. I think that it will help your layout so balanced, so you can feel so comfortable with the whole structure.
Archived post page
The sidebar can't be found on the archived post page and homepage, which makes you show more posts on these pages. On the other pages, the sidebar appears in a special way: the individual elements are in the individual buttons. This careful design enhances the neatness and emphasizes the widgets in a pure way.
Single post page's design
Lastly, the design of the single post looks like a paper put on a light grey background. I relaxes my mind with the feeling of reading a real magazine. Plus, the line spacing is adequate, giving a senes of "flow" so I'm really willing to read even a lengthy post.
Responsive
When using this free WordPress theme in different devices like a smartphone, PC, laptop or tablet, this theme is fully responsive. That means the design looks good and reasonable without any mistake.
