General design
Before going to more detail about the design, I have a note about the demo on the theme homepage. This is the demo for the Pro version so some features that you expect don't exist in this Free version. But generally, there is not much difference in the design between 2 versions.
If you are a fan of the minimalistic and decent style, EightyDay Lite won't fall short of your expectation with the straightforward and tidy design. Both straight lines and curved lines are used to decorate and create the primary elements. I really love this combination as the curved lines can reduce the sharpness of the straight lines to some extent. Especially, I find the curved corners of the thumbnails on the front page very friendly and comfortable.

The curved corner
To sum up, the whole site gives me a sense of gentleness and elegance through the slim lines and contours of every element used in the design.
Other elements
This theme has the cool and classic colors like light grey, light brown, black and white to make harmony and comfort in the design. This palette also creates delicate, politeness, which is appropriate for those who follow the elegant style.
How about the typography? It has 2 default styles in the Free version: Lato and Poppin. They are the basic and popular font for a readable website. Apart from being easy to read, I see that these 2 fonts are quite matched with the seriousness and simpleness of the whole theme.
The simple but still effective and delicate in the design are partially illustrated through the header. As you can see, the elements here are arranged symmetrically and neatly, separated by the long slim lines. This arrangement and design help the header not only look so simple, spacious but also still have the emphasis. This is the default layout so you don't need time to select one among many styles.

Header
This free WordPress blog theme doesn't have header image and featured post slider but the featured posts are very stunning, which will definitely attract the readers. Instead of the grid style like body content, this area is design in a unique way. The post information displays directly on the featured images in order to save the space and also draw people's attention. The park of this featured post is that it is made very reasonably to let the readers view the whole 3 posts without scrolling down.

Featured posts
On the front page, the grid structure benefits the readers as it helps scan and skim quickly the whole content of your blog. Besides, the post thumbnails are displayed with the original size so you should consider carefully before selecting a featured image. That will help your front page look prettier and proportional. The single post page also has a friendly look. The line spacing is adequate so that the readers don't feel tired while reading.
With Instagram carousel, the footer area is very outstanding. However, the Free version doesn't support this feature so the footer area is simpler with the footer column and social media icon. I still find the strength of this area with a light blue background, making me feel very young and cool. This different background enhances the distinction of the footer from other elements. Moreover, the social icons are faded and appear prominently when you hover. As a result, these icons don't take the spotlight of the footer columns but still display clearly when needed.
