General Design

EventPress comes with a polish and beautiful design. This style also looks really modern, young, and fresh with flexible use of design elements like the combination of straight and curved lines, rounded and squared boxes, ...

What's more, the author really knows how to emphasize the design but still keeps the harmony of all elements. Typically, just look at how these elements are combined. They're highlighted and prettified with beautiful shapes and icons.

Colors and Fonts

Thanks to the blue color, EventPress looks that young and fresh, while the light grey background sometimes makes it so comfortable for your eyes. If you want to have a new style for your site, like a girly or stronger look, EventPress gives you 2 other color options to replace the blue color. Whatever you choose, the color scheme is still nice.

Besides Fira Sans - the main family fonts, EventPress is embellished with the artistic font call Dancing Script. Dancing Script is just used in a few special quotes or texts to reduce the strong and robust characteristics of Fira Sans. So I think that's a really good idea. You can't change these family fonts, but if you want some small differences, you should try other styles like Italic and Oblique with different sizes.

Header and Footer

The header is really straightforward to avoid any distraction, thus people can focus on the beautiful full-screen hero image. Besides, you are able to add a header image but I don't think that's a good idea. When I reviewed this feature, I found that there was a blank space left in the header image area and that looks quite unsymmetrical.

The footer is the most intriguing part of EventPress with a full-width background image as well. You can leverage this feature to show a beautiful photo here and make your site more stunning.

Archive Pages and Single Post Pages

As you can see in the demo, the author uses a list with large featured images to display posts here. That's also the only style of this page.

Interestingly, each post or widget in the sidebar is framed in a rounded-corner box.  I like this design because it can ease the sharpness of this theme very effectively.

Even in single post pages, this style is repeated. That gives me a sense of cleanness and neatness.

Responsive

This free corporate WordPress theme ensures that it will look beautiful on all devices and screen sizes without any problem.

EventPress doesn't look like the demo until you spend some time on it.

If you decide to manually configure this free theme, I'm afraid that it may take time to work with the Customizer to set up the complicated homepage. And don't forget to set up the static homepage and page attribute. This work actually confused me a lot because I have to a few more steps while the documentation doesn't mention that.

Therefore, I suggest installing Evento plugin to get the demo for your site instantly. It's very different from other plugins, which requires me to click the import button, wait, or upload the dummy data, ... You just need to install Evanto and set the page attribute to have all things done - no need to do any other things at all. These colors are default and can't be changed, so if you want to set another typical for your personal brand, it's difficult.

The one-click demo import feature is compatible with Evento plugin. That's the most interesting feature in my experience because you don't need to do any configuration at all, just activate the plugin and all things are done.

Actually, EventPress supports a featured slider, but it's not a "real" slider because you're given only one inside slide. Hence, it looks not different from a static hero image.

To customize this free WordPress business theme, you need to work with the Customizer tool with many enough necessary themes options. It's an easy tool to use with a wise arrangement of options, which allows users to deal with it quickly. All you need to do is clicking and choosing the right tab in ONE panel only instead of switching to other panels, which saves your time a lot. For example, this is how I edited the Organizer section.

However, I found many restrictions on EventPress free.

First of all, the number of items for the important section like the Slider and Organizer (or testimonials) section is really small. You even just can add 0ne or two items for these sections. Well, I think at least I am allowed to add more than one slide to make my slider a "real" slider.

And there is also an issue with the lower-level menu. The menu displays in an inappropriate way so it's so difficult to be controlled.

In daily experience with Gutenberg editor, I'm quite satisfied with this theme. But still, some blocks on the back end looks different from they are on the front end. Like the blockquote and image alignment here:

Here is the speed test result of EventPress speed by PageSpeed Insights. As you see, its speed is not really good so you should find more ways to improve your site speed.

I also check the theme's SEO optimization for you with some special tools. The result shows that EventPress is not really SEO-friendly yet. I suggest that you should install an SEO plugin to make it completed.

The documentation has a quite complicated structure so it's difficult for me to search for the needed tutorials. Besides, instead of writing all the articles on one page, the author separated them into different pages so you have to wait for the page loading. That's quite inconvenient!

The support ticket is free for everyone, even free users. But it needs registration for the submission so I think someone may not like this.

In the WordPress.org support forum, I haven't seen any reply from the team so I don't know if they work here or not.
