Fancy Lab Theme Review

General design

When I just scanned the demo, I was attracted by the vivid appearance of this theme. All the images in this Free WordPress theme are displayed prominently with the large size. That's why it needs no decorative elements but still can be that fancy and beautiful. Plus, the full-width style extremely enhances the openness and prominence of this theme.

The main elements are built from straight lines, which makes the theme super straightforward and solid.

Other elements

The color scheme brings about the sense of friendliness and harmony. The light grey background is really effective to reduce the contrast with the black texts, which is very comfortable for the readers' eyes. Meanwhile, the dark pink elements make it super warm and highlighted.

As for the typography, that's a wise choice to use SeaWeed Script for the heading and the Rajdhani for the body content. The SeaWeed Script is such a creative and flexible font while the Rajdhani is more solid and straight. That combination gives the intriguing look to this WordPress theme.

Moving up to the header, it just takes a small place and looks really simple, giving the spotlight to the full-width slider. The slider is really attractive and it has the title and button to encourage people to explore this post.

This slider just appears on the homepage, along with the shop catalog and the latest posts. This homepage is made to be the most prominent and eye-catching page. The grid structure of the catalog plays an important role in catching people's attention right at the first look. Particularly, I really like the way they use the slim lines to decorate and draw the eyes of people on the posts here.

Besides the normal page, Fancy Lab also has a page showing the result and suggestion for your search. All the elements on this page are arranged reasonably and legibly.

As I described before, this theme uses the images with very large size. I can't imagine that the featured image in the blog page can be that outstanding, and they are even as large as the featured image on the single post page. Hence, this WordPress theme can be fancier.

Responsive

In different devices, the design of this theme still looks fine without any problem. Especially, the header image can be fitted with any kind of screen and remain the stunning look. You can see the responsive design checked by ami.responsivedesign.is.

It's very easy to install and use this WordPress theme without knowing much about technology.

The 1-click demo import is also simple to use. You just need to install the recommended One Click Demo Import plugin and click a button to import demo data. It just takes a couple of minutes for this action and your website will look like the demo site.

If you don't want to use the demo data, just manually set it up. There is a must-be-done step to have the shop catalog like the demo: installing the WooCommerce plugin and creating your own product on the Dashboard, which is also not difficult at all. Finally, everything like adding the widgets, header slider...can be customized easily in the Customizer.

I think it lacks some features like social linking and social sharing to boost the popularity of your product and broaden your customer's community. But the author doesn't recommend any plugin to have them.

You can customize the features very easily in the Customizer. This E-Commerce theme focuses on how the product displays so there is no section for the whole site like color, font, background image, and layout. Thus, you should pay attention mainly to the Home page product and Catalog setting.

You can easily make changes to all the sections on the homepage. The number of posts and columns for each section are unlimited so you can freely show as much as you want.

Also in the Customizer, you can quickly choose a page for each slider. However, I think that there should be more than 3 sliders for this section as users may have more than 3 most important page needing to be here. And If you don't want to have this section, it has no button to rapidly on/off the slider. You can leave all the Set slider page unselected so that the slider will disappear.

How to hide the slider

Lastly, this WordPress theme gives you up to 3 areas to add all the basic widget: the footer, main sidebar and sidebar shop. Additionally, there are many other helpful widgets for your online shop. All the widget can be shown properly.

I spend only 1 day to explore all the post format for daily using. All the necessary formats for a diverse and nice post are provided here.

I checked the SEO configuration by tools. The result is that this WordPress theme lack SEO configuration. Hence, you have to use a plugin to have SEO in mind. But the author doesn't recommend any plugin for SEO so it may challenge a beginner like me to find a good one.

The speed is in the medium level of the band score. I think that it's not excellent but still quite acceptable. You can see the result checked by PageSpeed Insight.

The author has already written very in-depth documentation for you. You can find everything you need to install, set up and customize this WordPress theme. But I wish there would be more illustration to make it more understandable

Now I don't find any kind of support in the theme homepage. Maybe it's a new themes company and they will have a support system soon.
