General design
I choose the word clear and clean to describe the core design of Miyazaki. You can see that it's really spacious and airy. Especially, every element is very prominent, from the heading, title, to the featured images, texts...Moreover, I see no unnecessary factors and even no decoration to mess up its cleanness at all.
Other elements
The white background is in contrast with the black text, making the appearance extremely bright. Plus, the red elements highlight some special parts and make it less boring. However, I think this palette is also a con as this super whiteness is likely to give me eyestrain when reading for too long.
The author uses Teko for the heading because it's big and bold. As for the body texts he applies Charis SIL. This is a good combination between a serif and a san-serif font, giving the easy readability and harmonious sense for all users.
Next, the header is simple and pure. I would say nothing about this area if the title wasn't so interesting like this.
Title
As you see, the title is tremendously big, and absolutely the largest texts in this theme. It lies partially on the latest featured post's image to heed to. But I suppose that this design can also make this area quite glitzy as well.
To make up for the simple header, the masonry structure shows your post on the archive page very stunningly. This is really suitable with an image-based blog and portfolio.
The single post page keeps the featured image's original size. Again, this image and the heading are extremely large in order to attract people's attention. However, the body content is aligned to the left so it leaves an empty place on the right. I don't like this alignment much because it looks unbalanced.
