Stork Theme Review

General design

I bet that you haven't seen any free WordPress theme so simple but still interesting like this theme. Every element is made from the basic straight lines and minimized as much as possible so it's really clean and straightforward. To focus on the readability and performance, the author even eliminates the header image and sidebar on every page. Moreover, the list structure and single-column content layout are really helpful to emphasize this reading purpose.

Other elements

Thanks to the main blue color, the reader will immediately feel so free and cool when first viewing this theme. Meanwhile, other elements are black and white, the safe choice of color for a blog to make the page clear and legible. Don't think that this color is so boring because this theme is embellished by the red hyperlink when hovering.

Karla is the only font used in this theme. The most prominent character of this font is the spacing, which is set a little wide so that this theme can deliver the most comfortable reading experience.

And now I will describe the most interesting design of this theme: the header. To make up for the simple design of the whole theme, the author creates a very unique header like this. The title resembles the button, which turns to red when you hover so it can be very impressive and attractive. Especially, all the elements are centralized to be symmetrical with the body content under it. Overall, this default style is simple but still very inspiring.

Another beautiful design lies in the large featured images on archived post page. Thereby, you can confidently boost the prominence of your posts here. However, the post with full content on this page is quite lengthy. You can add the Read more button in the Editor for each post, but I wish I could change the excerpt length once for all the posts.

Finally, the footer is also very straightforward. But at least, it has the most sotiphicated design compared to other elements. You can see that the straight lines used as a decorative tool, so this area looks quite solid and vivid.

Responsive

This theme is friendly in all devices. By which I mean that the design is beautiful in the laptop, PC, tablet and even smartphone without any problem at all. You can see the responsive design checked by ami.responsivedesign.is.

Besides the fact that this WordPress theme is very easy to be installed, it requires little or even no effort for you to make your website similar to the demo. Although it doesn't support one-click demo import, your page is almost like the demo if you already have the full combo:  content, title, and menu. Then, the only work you have to do is adding 4 footer columns, which is super easy to do in the Customizer.

The list of custom features is not so long but you can address all of them easily in the Customizer.

You can considerably change the appearance of your page by the color section. Although there are only 2 sections for the color, you can choose any shade of color there.

However, this theme doesn't support a background image to make your page more creative. The typography is also unmodifiable. I think it's okay with the default font so it doesn't need changing at all.

The content structure and the global layout is fixed. There is still no sidebar anywhere at all so you can just add the widgets to the footer column. There are 4 footer columns where all the basic widgets from a WordPress theme can be rendered properly.

The header layout can't be changed. Only the header animation is editable. In the General setting option, you can enable/disable the animation and write anything you want for the copyright text. I prefer the header style with an effect like the demo as it's more lively.

Finally, I'd like to compliment the social media section on the diverse choices of social URL here. There are up to 12 most common social media and 1 custom CSS for you to freely add anything you want. That's such an effective way to connect with the reader and popularize your website.

All the necessary post formats for a blog are available and they display very beautifully. It's very easy for everyone to get used to using these formats, about 1 day to learn for a beginner like me.

The gallery looks neat and nice. The images inside don't have a similar size but they are still very well-arranged.

This theme is already customized for SEO so you don't have to think about it.

Regarding the speed, I check it by the PageSpade Insight and conclude that this is a very light and fast theme. You can see the "green" is an excellent result here.

At the moment, I can't find any documentation for this free WordPress theme. Maybe they will update it later.

You can find free support from both the user community and author in the WordPress.org support forum. The author answers all questions here very quickly and kindly so that you can handle the problem easily.
