Tulsi Theme Review

General design

Energetic, unique and innovative are the words to describe the feeling of me about this design. Every aspect of the design from the typography featured images and header...is extremely vivid and prominent. Moreover, it has a stunning homepage displaying many beautiful features.

Other elements

The use of orange and black makes the appearance both dark and dazzling at the same time. I think it's the best combination for a sporty user, showing a sign of an dynamic and modern website. And regarding the typography, it includes only one family font - Roboto. That font is easy to read, big as well as solid to coincide with the general design.

If you want another look for your website, you can change these default colors and fonts to others in the Customizer when using this theme.

The global layout is fluid, which brings me a feeling of being open and flexible. And I really love the homepage with the full-screen design. When I scroll the homepage, all the features in the body are likely to overwhelm the other parts by its charm and prominence.

On the About Us page, I found all the sections (Featured section, About team and Client area) are also fancy. Thanks to these sections, you can show your business's character in a beautiful and outstanding way.

The single post page seems to be less fancy. It has no header image but a black ribbon instead. Yet I think it's good to give the spotlight to the body content.

 

Responsive

On different viewport, this free WordPress theme is still displayed very beautifully. You can see the responsive design checked by ami.responsivedesign.is.

Like other themes in my reviews, this free WordPress theme is easy to install and ready to use. However, it has a matter if you want to have a similar website like the demo. Because this free version doesn't compatible with one-click demo import, you have to set up it yourself. To have all the special features in the static homepage like the live preview, you have to use a page builder plugin. The author already suggests Elementor page builder in the Dashboard but this is still a problem with a non-professional user like me to use this plugin. If you already know about technology and design, it's a gift to create any visual design as you want.

For a blog and e-commerce website, this theme doesn't disappoint you with all the common features like Gutenberg editor, WooCommerce and even social linking. The key feature making this theme an ideal business website is the Elementor page builder. If you are familiar with it, you can customize almost every aspect, but a beginner like me will be stuck with this plugin.

 

There are all the basic editable features like color, header image, footer and sidebar widgets..., which can be customized easily and properly in the Customizer.

Almost all the elements can be recolored except for the default orange and black palette. And because there are many changeable colors, you should choose the color scheme carefully before it becomes a mess as I did here.

If you think the orange background is too dazzling, don't worry. The background image will ease your eyes.

The typography section, despite not having all the Google font, still provides you with enough standard fonts and other options to restyle it. You should pay attention to the size as it only changes the body content text size, not all the texts.

The header image dissatisfies me a bit as I can't crop it. It forces you to use the small header frame like this.

One last interesting feature I want to describe is the Social Link. It's where you can add many popular designated social URLs. You just need to add the link and its icon will automatically appear. Additionally, they give you three more custom links and allow you to add your favorite icons from Font Awesome. Interestingly, it has another fixed side to display your icons here besides the top bar. You can on/off these 2 positions easily in this tag as well.

Finally, with the Elementor page builder, you can create many elements by drag-and-drop standard modules included.

This theme has all the common post formats. I will describe some most frequently used post formats you may need here.

This is how the blockquote holds the texts. I see that it's not so distinctive from the ordinary text.

The video is large so you can enjoy it without zooming in.

The gallery displays all the image very well and nicely.

Last but not least, you are allowed to choose the sidebar layout for each post easily in the Edit setting. Very convenient and time-saving, right?

 

I checked the SEO optimization by some tools and found out that this theme hasn't been optimized well for SEO yet. The author doesn't recommend any plugin for SEO so you have to find one by yourself.

The speed was test by Google PageSpeed Insights. The result shows that the speed is medium and still needs improvement.

It has a general tutorial for all the theme from WPKoi, both free and premium ones. They guide you to install, customize and use Elementor with detailed Video tutorials. But I still wish that they could have documentation for Tulsi itself.
