Woostify Theme Review

General design

There is a tone of pre-made demos for various purposes. But only one is free, others are paid so I will just review the design of the free demo.

To wrap things up, I use the words "clean" and "elegant" to describe this demo. The spacious and extensive design also gives me extreme relaxation.

Other elements

The main color scheme is the main contributory factor to the elegance of this WordPress theme. By using light grey and white background, this theme is so readable and calm. The typeface is also effective to boost the legibility and clearance. You can change them and their size as well as the line hight to suit your taste.

Besides the grid layout, the products on the homepage are displayed in a creative layout like this. The animation on texts is just enough to make it so fun.

But the most intriguing element of the design is the way single products are shown. You can zoom in, switch color, choosing different images in a comfortable place just like in a real shop so your customers will happily buy your product.

This WordPress eCommerce theme also has a beautiful 404 page with a custom full-width background image.

On the blog page, there are up to 3 other styles that you can try. They are all well-organized and look reasonable, but I still prefer the default style as the featured images are large and so attractive.

 

Responsive

When using this theme on different devices or viewport, it all looks good. For example, I use this theme on a tablet and it's still fine.

However, when I switch to my mobile phone, it doesn't display the full hero image like this.

This theme is not available on WordPress.org so you have to download it from the theme homepage. Installing and activating it is just similar to other themes. After that, you have 2 choices to move one: manually set it up or import the demo data.

As I stated above, there is only one free demo. The manipulation to install and import the demo data and required plugins are not hard, but you have to wait about 5 minutes until it finishes.  However, after I install the demo, I find some differences. First, the Instagram Feed doesn't appear unless you set up the Smash Balloon Instagram Feed, which is quite complicated. Secondly, you need to deal with the WooCommerce Variation Swatches as well, otherwise, your single product page doesn't have the color option like this. If you are not a professional user, I guest that these complicated steps will confuse you.

Surely, WooCommerce compatible is the most important feature for an eCommerce theme, but what makes Woostify outstanding is a lot of other free advanced plugins for an online shop that are enclosed like TI WooCommerce Wishlist Plugin to have a Wishlist, WooCommerce Variation Swatches to have a color-switch option, ...

You can use live Customizer or page builder to customize and create a new layout for your page.

The drag-and-drop Elementor page builder is used to build the demo content, especially the Homepage and Contact page. Most of the element of the homepage's body is build from available modules in Elementor. But this is the free version so there are no extra modules here. If you want to have more, you have to buy Elementor pro.

Using theme Customization, on the other hand, is simple thanks to its intuitive interface. The author let you custom even the minor stuff so if you are a meticulous user, I bet that you will love it.

For instance, you can make your website full of color in the color option like this. All the color sections can be replaced properly.

With a lot of Google fonts on the library, you just need to select one for your Body, Primary Menu and Heading from the drop-down menu without embedding code or other complicated steps. However, when I changed the font size for the H1 to H5, they aren't changed at all. Only the H6 is changed properly as I did here.

Then, interestingly, just by drag and drop the modules to the position you want, you can change the blog structure in a second. Similarly, the single post page elements can be changed that way. That's so convenient!

By turning on the Page Header Display button and choosing a header image, your header of the sub-page looks less boring. But it doesn't allow you to custom the header image size so you have to crop it before uploading.

Selling your stuff daily is just as simple as the way you create a new post. As for a normal post, you have all the standard post types as most of the other themes.

For example, your quote looks much better with a quote block like this.

Embedding a video from Vimeo, Youtube, Soundcloud is so convenient. The video frame is even quite large so I can watch it clearly without zooming.

Similarly, the gallery is intuitive and clean.

When I verified SEO by some special tools, I found that this WordPress theme hasn't been totally ready for SEO yet. So you have to install some plugin for this feature to have it optimized.

This theme has medium speed. It's not good but it won't slow down your website much. The speed was checked by Google PageSpeed Insights. You can use other popular tools on the Internet to verify it.

I also verified SEO by tools and have to say that this WordPress theme hasn' had effective SEO optimization.

The author provides you with in-depth tutorials. The documentation is divided logically into the different sections and even has a search bar to help you find the key answer.
